Located about a 20 minute walk or quick cab from the Guadalajara Cathedral, Rillax is located in a mostly quiet residential neighborhood.  Let’s start by saying, if seedy and dark isn’t your thing, this very clean bright and friendly sauna/spa might be for you.

For about  pesos you get entry and a locker, or for  pesos you get your own small private room.  Now as much as I like this place, if you’re a 6”4’ gringo like me, the rooms are more like a tight closet… but it gets the job done.

A very handsome younger crowd of late 20’s to early 40’s with frequent daddies and bears.  Rooms line the open hallways on both floors and the facilities are very bright, spacious and again, clean!

The floor has an open airy central seating area which leads to a huge room that is 1/3 open gang showers and a massive 20+ person hot tub that has always been crowded when Ive visited.  To the left of the hot tub area is a 2 room steam area which is pretty hopping and very hot (temp)!  Right outside the showers is a nice sauna which is also very active.

Admittedly I don’t do well in very hot areas, but in my walk throughs it’s always been action packed.  If you like an audience… you’ll love it in there.  Best part… spotless!  No gross mildew smells that many bath houses in the states have, (like Phoenix AZ’s where you literally get sinus infections from the stink).

The second floor (wear the free sandals so you don’t slip down the stairs like I did) is another open area lined with rooms that leads back to a huge semi-outdoor area with couches and chairs, where many guys hang and play on their phones.  Very cool and refreshing after the tub or sauna/steam areas. A great place to meet up and take folks back to your room.

Aside from in the steamrooms & saunas, there isn’t much out in the open play.  Mostly taking place in rooms, many of which are ajar and looking for watchers or group action.  (Reminder the rooms are tiny….).

Massages were really great and very affordable.  Whether you’d like a relaxing run or a sensual tug… you’ll leave happy.

All in all, this place is top notch and pretty laid back.  A sexy younger crowd, where older bears like me feel welcome and often chased.  I couldn’t recommend it more!   Busy Fri-Sunday afternoons, hopping pre-night outs, chill but good crowd weekday daytimes.

This place is really great and gets my highest recommendations!

Tips: bring sandals, or borrow a pair from the big bin of ones that are regularly sanitized. Carry smaller bills or coins for the cute refreshment shop on the first floor where drinks and light munchies are sold.

Although I’ve felt safe in this neighborhood during the day, I recommend cabbing it if you’re not driving.  Streets are confusing to navigate on foot and I’ve heard that it’s not the best area at night.

As you walk in off the street, you’re buzzed into a really beautiful lobby. Entry for me, including a locker, was 250 pesos (about $14 USD). Private rooms are available for a small upgrade fee. Once checked in, you head upstairs to the second floor, where there are two locker areas. The lockers are a good size, and the space is spotless.

There are three floors in total, so I’ll go floor by floor.

Ground Floor:

Behind the front desk, a walkway leads to the outdoor pool area—a beautiful warm pool about 12x20 feet, surrounded by lounge chairs and lush greenery. It’s a relaxing, resort-style setup. There are large “No Sexual Activities” signs, which is fine because there are other areas if that’s what you’re looking for. The bar setup is decent, with drinks and snacks available, and several private massage rooms are scattered throughout the main level.

To the right of the pool is a large indoor shower area. Down a small hallway, you’ll find the sauna—not huge, but nice, dark, and clean, with a good scent and some low-key action going on. Outside the sauna is the steam room—a good-sized, dimly lit space with the perfect amount of heat. Some steam rooms are so hot they’re unbearable, but this one was ideal for either relaxing or playing. Inside the steam room, a doorway leads to a darker “steam room” area where heavier sessions were happening. A really nice setup overall!

Back by the pool, there’s a door leading to the left side of the building where you’ll find another pool-like space—an 8x12 raised pool (or possibly a hot tub that wasn’t on). Wall fountains pour into the water, adding a cool touch. The outdoor pool was very warm the day I visited, so this cooler indoor dip was a nice contrast.

Most guys outside wore towels or speedos. The vibe felt more “hang out with friends and chill” than “I’m here to get off,” although both options seemed available depending on your mood.

Second Floor:

Accessible from both inside and outside staircases, the second floor centers around the locker areas, flanked by private massage rooms. Behind one locker area is a dimly lit room showing porn, with a few raised platforms for play. Since it was daytime, sunlight filtered in, but the space was still in use.

On the opposite side, you’ll find a second set of lockers and a hallway lined with small private changing rooms—probably too small for much action, though I’m sure they get used. There’s also a small shower area and a floral staircase leading up to the third floor.

Rooftop:

The roof is about 10x30 feet with a few chairs and a small hot tub. Not much action was happening there during my visit, but it’s a pleasant setup.

Overall Impressions:

I really liked this place—it was fun on a late Saturday afternoon. Although pricier than some other local bathhouses, it felt worth it. The crowd was different, too: mostly guys in their 30s to late 40s, with a few silver foxes. They offer an 18–22 discount (50 pesos off), but during my visit, it was mostly an older crowd. The guys were generally good-looking, and while the sauna had plenty of action, overall play was a bit more discreet.

Did I enjoy Renacer? 100%. If you’re looking for wild, out-in-the-open group scenes, this may not be your spot—but for a chill day by the pool, a few drinks, and maybe some action later, it’s perfect. It’s a great place to relax, meet people, and enjoy some sunshine in the middle of the city. The staff were great, and everything was immaculate. After visiting here, I’d never go back to the dirty, smelly bathhouses in Phoenix.

Pros:

  • Beautiful, spotless facility
  • Great mix of lounge areas and play spaces
  • Relaxed vibe with good music and a full bar
  • Nice pools (indoor and outdoor) and a rooftop hot tub
  • Steam room and sauna at perfect, comfortable temperatures
  • Worth the 250 peso entry fee

Cons:

  • More smokers than I’d prefer (though it’s partly outdoors, so not a big deal)
  • Lots of stairs—may be tough if you have mobility issues

Tips:

  • Bring your own sandals (bare feet are frowned upon, and big sizes can be hard to find)
  • Bring sunglasses and a hat—the pool and rooftop areas are bright with no shade
  • They open daily at noon and close at 10 p.m.
  • Early afternoon is great if you want to relax; if you’re looking for play, come after dinner and stay till close

Renacer has a very different vibe than Riillax, which is more sex-focused. They really can’t be compared—it’s a different experience. Renacer seems to cater to a younger, stylish crowd (mostly under 50), though there are always exceptions.

If you’re into daddies and group action, I’d recommend Baños Guadalajara instead. But if you want a clean, laid-back pool day, a few drinks, and maybe a good BJ in the sauna, you can’t go wrong here.

I loved it and would 100% go back. Highly recommended! If you go, let me know your thoughts—and if you get a massage, tell me how it was.

Thanks, Renacer! I’ll be back.
